Some of us can be quite good at writing and creating goals. Following the SMART acronym, we do a great job of making our goals S.M.A.R.T – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time bound. Yet, some people have difficulty bringing them to life.
One way to give those goals in life is to actually picture yourself in the successful state. In other words, if your goal is to win a swimming race, picture yourself hitting the wall first, and receiving the blue ribbon. If your goal is to be promoted to the position of Senior Vice President, picture yourself in that Vice President’s office and dressing the part.
Visualization can actually be quite fun. By picturing yourself in the “successful state,” you are seeing the dream. This practice can give you energy to take the first step towards that goal that has been alluding you.
