We all fall into that trap. The one hour meeting.
We schedule it in our calendars. We go. Then we either compress 90 minutes of material into that hour, or we expand the 30 minutes of material into an hour.
Don’t doubt me. You KNOW it’s true.
Here’s a thought. Start scheduling your meetings for 1/2 hour!
OK. I get it. Not all business can be conducted in a half hour. The point is… estimate the time you truly believe the meeting will take, and publish the end time, not just the start time, and end it when it’s done…
What we’re doing here is managing not only your mental preset but those who will attend the meeting. Just as we can expand to fill the one hour, or compress, let’s try to do it in half the time.
