With the Dog Days of Summer upon us, kids returning to school, families back from vacation, I thought it a good time to devote my monthly newsletter to helping you focus on the RIGHT priorities, and lotsa tips and inspiration that you might find useful as we move toward Autumn. Oh and a deal or two that you might like too!

Whenever I work with clients who struggle with what they call "time management" I like to remind them that it is really "priority management." After all, all of us have the same number of hours in each day. Those who are more successful than others are those who manage their priorities well, and fit them into the time they have available. So it's not just managing your time, it is choosing the priorities to work in that precious time!

Here's the thing. Managing your priorities works well when you take a longer view. It enables you to be more clear about your priorities, and helps you be more proactive about your choices.

So — Instead of just looking at the day ahead of you, expand your view to the week ahead. And the month ahead. Yes, and year ahead. And maybe even more...

Consider this example: Your goal is to exercise 3 times a week. When you put exercising on your daily list, you run the risk of moving it to tomorrow if you get backed up at work, or ... whatever. The same thing can happen the next day. And the next. And the next. And before you know it, your week is gone and oops - no exercise! If you take the weekly view, and defer your Monday exercise to Tuesday, but know you want to get three trips to the gym into the week--not as easy to defer. Right?

We have a number of posts and podcasts on this subject, and they are featured below. I hope you'll "make the time" to check them out!
